HEALTHY TRANSITIONS PROGRAMME
About the Foyer Federation
The Foyer Federation develops and encourages new approaches to supporting young people at risk as they make their transition to adulthood. We work mainly through a network of over 100 accredited Foyers who provide accommodation linked with education, training, health and other services to around 10,000 young people a year.
The Foyer Federation is now exploring how the holistic Foyer approach can be stretched and targeted to improve services for those young people whose journey to adulthood is particularly difficult: e.g. care leavers, young offenders and other vulnerable young adults.
The Foyer Federation and Big Lottery are enabling us to develop a three year programme for disadvantaged young people between the ages of 16-25.
The programme has four key areas, including, healthy eating, physical activity and mental well being. It will enable us to achieve specialist health accreditation standards and also offers individual life coaching by expertly trained staff.
We commence on 26th March with a nutritional course followed by a cooking club. There will also be various taster sessions and activities throughout the programme.

We will be delivering the programme at the Cangle Foyer in Haverhill, Coupals Court young parent’s scheme also in Haverhill, and Acorn House young parent’s scheme in Bury St. Edmunds.
We want to empower young people to make an informed choice about healthy living. With the help of many external organisations and partnerships we will give young people the knowledge and skills to make that choice.
