Following our merger with The Riverside Group we are now a specialist provider of sheltered and supported housing. This will ensure that we concentrate on what we do best - supporting people in need.

Ten pounds is provided weekly for residents to make a healthy meal together.
Residents meet to decide what they fancy eating that day and make an ingredients list.

 


One resident leads the group and takes in the money to the local shop to buy the food.
When they come back, the music goes on and the kitchen gets lively.
Teamwork is essential and everyone usually mucks in when the smell of food
wafting round the building makes staff and residents really hungry. The table,
tablecloths and chairs are assembled in the main foyer and then dinner is served.There is usually change from the 10 pounds and this makes a meal for 4-6 people.
 

Aims: Using health and safety guidelines, prepare a healthy, within budget meal. In addition, prepare a rota for buying ingredients, preparing, cooking, setting the table, washing, drying and clearing away any kitchen utensils and crockery used.

Introduction using the aims

Choose and copy a recipe (for future use should residents request a copy), within budget, and prepare shopping list

Prepare rota to identify who will be shopping, preparing, cooking, setting the table, clearing the table, washing, drying and clearing away any kitchen utensils, washing floor (if necessary)

Organise a time when ingredients should be bought and when preparation should begin

Only those who participate in the preparation can eat the meal!
